At 14,439 feet of pure autumn glory, our summit up Mount Elbert will always stand out as one of my favorite hikes. After camping overnight at the base of Mount Elbert, my husband, a couple of close friends, and I began our hike to the summit of Mount Elbert in the middle of October.
We arrived at our campsite long after nightfall so we didn’t fully realize how beautiful the aspen colors were nor that they had reached their peak. But the next morning, we were greeted by vibrant yellow and gold leaves shading the mountain trail. Cool and crisp, the fall air brought a rush of excitement to all of us and I thanked the heavens that I made sure to bring my DSLR on this trip.
We hiked for several hours up through the tree line before we reached our summit which brought so many opportunities to capture the sunlight pouring through the trees.
Such an amazing memory! I’m so in awe of this beautiful state season after season. Back home in Tennessee, I considered autumn to be my favorite season. Yet here in Colorado, I love every season because it brings such a dynamic change to the environment.
Simply amazing…and a photographer’s dream for sure! I always have an ever changing backdrop from one season to the next as an outdoor and natural light photographer. I love capturing nature’s beauty, and I consider this a personal project that will last my entire lifetime.
Can’t wait for autumn to come rolling through again! I’m planning some great sessions for this next season but still loving and holding onto every little bit of warm summertime that I can soak in!
So here is to fall in Colorado and more beautiful autumn colors just like these!
