Oh man, friends, I can’t even begin to describe how much I love these two little boys of ours! I thought our hearts were full with Sawyer but our love has exploded (as have our hearts!) with our newest addition Spencer Gabriel born July 18, 2016 at 7:58am. I wanted to share our little loves with you, and I also wanted to truly, truly express how important it is to capture those quickly fleeting moments with your loved ones. The past 6 weeks have been a blur which is such a normal pattern of life with a newborn and a toddler, and before I knew it Spencer was 6 weeks old. I took a few newborn photos of him both in the hospital and in the early days at home with him, but a few sleepless nights and not quite enough coffee left me in quite the fog the first few weeks; and, I’ve yet to edit those pictures of his early days. I know that seems like not a big deal at first, but then after starting to hammer away at some of these pictures I soon realized that my hard drive was completely full. We had almost 300gigs of family photos of the boys…and they’re only 3 1/2 and 6 weeks old!!! What in the world!!!! So began the long and somewhat frustrating journey of sorting through, organizing, and editing those 300gigs of photos meanwhile missing moments right in front of me because I’d failed to print the photos we already have and just let them collect dust on my hard drive (by the way they’re backed up a thousand times over but still!). So I worked my way backwards starting with taking photos of those current moments and then working through our family photos from years ago. I booked family portraits with the amazing Justyna Butler of Justyna E. Butler Photography in Denver so she can capture our family in ways that I can’t…and I will continue to make sure to slow down and capture those moments whether I do it or I book someone else to do it because I can see how quickly those digital images stack up on my computer and get ignored and forgotten. I’ll be printing so many of these photos and creating albums and canvases to hold these memories in my hands and to share with our boys those incredibly memories first hand. Make sure to capture moments of your beautiful family and loved ones too…it really does go by so fast.
Much love to you and yours!
